Seven northern states, including Delhi and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, went without power due to a major break-down in the northern electricity grid on Tuesday. The entire northern region plunged into darkness when a technical problem hit the Panki Thermal Power Plant, near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, at around 4.30 am.
