Norway's government proposed late last week to invest 5.0 billion crowns ($640 million) over the next 10 years in renewable energy sources such as wind, bio-fuel and heat pumps. Oil and Energy Minister Marit Arnstad presented an energy white paper on Friday laying out a framework for Norway's energy sector, the first in more than a decade. The centrist coalition also said in its white paper it was opposed to gas-power plans and that it would extend metals maker Elkem's right to produce around one terawatt hour per year in the controversial Sauda hydro-electric system in southwest Norway, until 2030.
