The environment pollution (prevention and control) authority of the Delhi government has asked the Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) to show cause why its 277.5 MW coal-based Indraprastha thermal power station should not be closed down. The newly created authority, which is a statutory body with sweeping powers to enforce its decisions, is of the view that the "power availability is quite low, the pollutant emission is very high."
