AHMEDABAD: If you had a drainage block, water logging problems, cave-ins or a storm water drain burst in your area this monsoon, just lodge your complaint to the SMS' complaint redressal Jansuvidha' system and expect a speedy response. The system was first introduced in the new west zone followed by the south zone in recent months and would now be extended to the entire city from Monday next.
According to plans put forth by the AMC, the complaint numbers would be declared in two days with each zone getting a separate number. The citizen should call on a toll-free number regarding any monsoon-related problem. The software automatically shoots off SMSes to the area engineer and contractor responsible for maintenance of civic services.
"This system makes everyone accountable. We can closely monitor action taken by officials after the complaint is registered. The complainant gets an unique complaint number to know the status," said a senior AMC official.
The unique software called SmartServe' automatically shoots off SMSes to area engineer concerned, for problematic water supply, drains, roads or garbage collection. If the complaint is not redressed within a fixed time, the unique software would shoot off SMSes to officers who are above the local engineers and finally even to the zonal deputy municipal commissioner and further to the municipal commissioner. AMC will have a detailed report on the actual response time of its team to a problem and whether the manpower assigned to a particular area was adequate.
"Once the name of the complainant is registered with the system, the area officer concerned is SMSed who deals with the specific problem. Here, the officer calls up the complainant and co-ordinates with him on the problem," the officer added.
