SOCIAL CONCERN:College and school students renovating a channel in Palayam town panchayat in Dindigul district.
DINDIGUL: For the first time, NSS volunteers, members of rural youth groups and Nehru Yuva Kendra join hands to retrieve seven-km-long channel connecting Kaicharakan tank and Periakulam tank in Palayam town panchayat near Gujiliamparai union.
Normally NSS volunteers camp in some remote villages and do some field work, campaign for social cause and vacate the chosen village after 10 days.
Mega project
This time, they took up a mega project in creating a permanent irrigation structure beneficial to several villages in Gujiliamparai Union.
One hundred persons including NSS volunteers from Arul Anandhar College, Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, Sourashtra College and Vivekanandha College in Madurai district, H.K.R.H. College in Uthamapalayam and G.T.N. Arts College in Dindigul and members from Youth Club in Chettinaickenpatti, Goodalur and Karayampatti, Gujiliamparai Nehru Yuva Kendra and Vadamadurai Youth Association offered
