The National Thermal Power Corportion (NTPC), which is putting up a power project at Cheyyur in Tamil Nadu, plans to use LNG as fuel for the plant. It plans to source the LNG from the project that is coming up at Ennore near Chennai. NTPC plans to put up a 2000 MW plant at Cheyyur, the first phase of which will be 1000 MW.While the project was meant to be coal-fired, NTPC is now looking into possibility of using LNG, at least for the second phase of the project.
