NTPC is ready to step into Cogentrix's shoes and implement the 1000 MW Mangalore Power project. Union power minister Rangarajan Kumarmangalam assured Karnataka power officials at a meeting on Tuesday that the Centre is prepared to bail out the state through NTPC if Cogentrix and other co-promoters of this ambitious venture refused to re-consider their decision to pull out.
