Construction of nuclear power stations would become economically viable if tradeble pollution permits were introduced to combat global warming, Peter Hollins, chief executive of Britain's biggest nuclear power generator said. The head of British Energy said introduction of an energy tax and exhortations to save energy would have little impact in reducing atmospheric pollution.
