Nuclear plant shutdown causes radioactive cloud

A reactor at the Diablo Canyon nuclear center in San Luis Opispo, California released a cloud of potentially radioactive steam following a shut-down due to a power outage, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission said today. The incident occurred at 5.15pm (AEST) Monday at one of the two reactors at Diablo Canyon, located on the US Pacific coast about 250 kilometres north of Los Angeles.
