Growing public concern and increasing competition in the energy industry in Japan has prompted the government to step back from its nuclear power development schedule. A recent draft for the next stage of the nation's nuclear energy development plan, submitted to a council of the Atomic Energy Commission July 24, left out some numerical targets that are part of the current policy.
