Drilling for oil and natural gas in the Barmer-Sanchore sector of western Rajasthan has brough out encouraging results. The first well, drilled by Shell India in Gudamalani area of Barmer district, has indicated the presence of oil and natural gas between the depths of 1821 metres and 2045 metres.
