Govt : One out of every hundred persons is infected with HIV, admits the Union government, on the basis of recent country wide surveys. This indicates a serious spread of AIDS in this country. "The infection rate has touched one per cent. Beyond this, the spread is extremely fast," says the project director of the National AIDS programme JVR Prasada Rao.
