ONGC plans to exploit methane gas

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation is all set to usher in an era of an alternative source of energy, with firm plans to explore and exploit the vast reserves of "coalbed methane gas". With the coming to fruition of its efforts to ensure a continous flow of methane gas from an experimental well at Jharia-1 in Bihar and test-drilling of two more wells in Dudurgapur-Ranigunj area, the ONGC is determined to accord priority to the new are of the energy sector, according to ONGC Chairman and Managing Director, Mr BC Bora.
