The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC)will set up two major oil spill response centres in Mumbai and Kakinda along the western and eastern coasts of the country. This is being done to combat emergency situation arising out of oil spills. According to ONGC director (technical) R C Gourh, the project is expected to be complete within 24 months.
