Twenty-five congressmen have joined with several environmental groups to urge the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (Opic) to reject a $200m loan proposal for a pipeline to carry natural gas from Bolivia to Brazil. Although Enron and Shell, the sponsors of the pipeline said they will build the project with or without government support, the project has yet to get under way.
