Over hundred thousand trees cut down in and around KG 'A' project

More than a hundred trees have been cut down in and around the on-going Kali Gandaki 'A' hydel project in western Nepal as the government failed to compensate locals of the trees that were grown up in their farms. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which oversees the project, compensated the locals only of the lands it acquired to carry out the 144 MW hydel project in the early mineties.
