This year's Antarctic ozone hole is persisting for longer than those in recent years, according to scientists. Researchers from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) found that the hole covered five million square miles throughout the second half of November. The hole may reach the tip of South America as it has done in previous years, the team reported in the Antarctic Ozone Bulletin on Saturday 5 December.
