The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has fixed January 22 for further hearing while admitting a public interest petition related to the matter of the violation of the directions of MERC on merit order dispatch by the Maharashtra State Electrcity Board (MSEB) and unwated purchase of expensive energy from Dabhol Power Company (DPC) ignoring cheaper alternatives in 2000-2001.
