The Ministry of Health has confirmed that 55,910 people have been detected with dengue disease, out of which 41 patients died due to the epidemic. Nearly 821 people remain hospitalised and 49 of them are in the Intensive Care Unit due to their serious health condition, the ministry said yesterday. The fight against dengue fever registered little progress this year and the worst damages reported so far are located in the Central department and in the capital of the Republic. Paraguay's directorate general of health surveillance noted the circulation in the country of serotype two dengue fever, while Amambay and Alto Parana departments confirmed the existence of serotype four. The large amount of rainfall that affected the county during the recent religious holidays sharpened the fears of an increase of the number of cases.
