Various government agencies are now trying to fathom the exact size of the obstruction on the Pareechu river, which has caused a lake to form. Doubts are being expressed over the previous estimates obtained from satellite images. General opinion amongst the various agencies that have been monitoring and analysing the satellite images from July onwards is that once the nature and size of the blockage is known, the depth of the lake can also be roughly calculated.
