The entire world applauded Rajendra Singh for his ability to mobilise the community in village, to rejuvenate dried-up ponds and lakes and harvest scarce rain water through simple, inexpensive methods based on traditional knowledge. But sadly, on June 20 the Rajasthan irrigation department declared that the earthen ground water recharge embankment was illegal under the Rajasthan irrigation and drainage act 1954.
