Controversial surgeon Dhani Ram Baruah appears to have "created medical history" by keeping a patient alive for " at least five days " after transplanting his heart with that of a pig's , M S Rao, director of Central Forensic Science Research Laboratory, Calcutta, said. "It's time Dr Baruah gets recognition, " Rao told The Telegraph . The CFSRL in Calcutta is the third agency involved in the 18-month exercise to ascertain the authenticity of Baruah's claim that he carried out the "world's first successful xenotransplantation" in January last year.
