Plan for parking-lot to be drawn up for old Bhopal

Bhopal: The downtown roads of old Bhopal will relieve of hustle-bustle traffic soon with the State Government coming up with a well-planned scheme in this regard. The Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur has issued directives to chalk out a major project for identification of maximum suitable places for this purpose and its prompt implementation. Besides, the collectorate, commissioner office and other government offices’ buildings will also be given a new look through re-modeling at their existing places. Shri Gaur has made it clear that no construction for house will now be permitted in the surrounding area of Upper Lake with a view to protecting it. Urban Administration Minister Shri Gaur today reviewed the progress of various ongoing and proposed schemes under Bhopal Municipal Corporation and other departments for the development of Bhopal city. Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur, Chairman Municipal Council Shri Kailash Mishra and leader opposition in BMC Mohammed Salim were present. The present status of implementation on the decisions taken previously by the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was also apprised at the meeting. It was informed that a total of 18 decisions have been implemented so far and the work is being carried out in full swing regarding other 14 such decisions. Shri Gaur also witnessed a presentation made on the occasion regarding construction of roads, colonies and bypass routes along with settlement of various shanties. He asked to ensure the works of rehabilitation before the settlement. It was informed at the meeting that under JNNURM scheme, a total of 4,612 houses were constructed and of this 1,639 have been allotted so far. The Urban Administration Minister Shri Gaur, with a view to protecting Upper Lake, instructed to set up a vigilance chowki at Khanugaon by Municipal Corporation so that the activities of any construction in the area could be brought to the notice. He also instructed to draw up a suitable and systematic action plan for protection of Lower Lake. Shri Gaur asked to prepare a design for maintenance and protection of the buildings such as Sadar Manzil, Iqbal Maidan, Pari Bazaar, Old Kotwali according to the historical importance of these heritages. It was informed at the meeting that the Union Government has sanctioned the funds for the development of five number platform at railway station and work on this is going to start soon. Shri Gaur instructed for prompt repairing of the parallel road made by the side of Hamidia road so that the people living in old Bhopal city could be facilitated for reaching on platform number five particularly. It was also informed that each of the houses in gas affected colonies has been provided with drinking water connection. The Urban Administration Minister Shri Gaur also directed to shift firing range near Van Vihar to a different place at the earliest. He asked to make more effective the scheme for collecting garbage from door to door under Solid Waste Management. Shri Gaur also gave suggestion to shift the statues of great leaders and personalities from rotaries to an appropriate place by the road side comprising detailed information about these persons. Shri Gaur also instructed to provide an appropriate place for parking of the trucks, which are witnessed stationed at various main roads during nights. He also necessitated an appropriate protection of Shahpura Lake. It was informed at the meeting that testing distribution of Narmada water in Bhopal city has been started. Shri Gaur told that for regulation of the activities under this project, the formation of a water board is also under consideration. Principal Secretary Urban Administration Shri S.P.S Parihar, Divisional Commissioner Shri Manoj Shrivastava, Commissioner Urban Administration Shri Sanjay Shukla, Collector Shri Nikunj Shrivastava and Commissioner BMC Shri Manish Singh along with other concerning officers were present.
