A $259m scheme to generate electricity by burning London's household waste has been submitted to the government. Energy Power Resources, one of the country's biggest renewable energy companies, is seeking planning permission for a MW66 riverside power station in south London.The plant would burn up to 585,000 tonnes of waste a year, most which would be delivered by barges along the River Thames.
