Five coastal states have been selected as thrust areas for developing mangrove forests under a dual purpose scheme to be implemented through co-operative societies, according to the Union Environment and Forest Minister, Mr. T.R. Baalu. Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Orissa, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh had been chosen for the scheme, with the concept of 'care and share', he said.
