Plan to modernise irrigation tanks

Tirupur: The Public Works Department (Water Resources Organisation) will strengthen the Aandipalayam, Mangalam and Sammalapuram irrigation tanks situated in the city outskirts and its supply channels at an estimated outlay of Rs. 90 lakh. This was disclosed by the PWD (WRO) officials after Minister for Highways and Minor Ports M. P. Saminathan and Collector C. Samayamoorthy along with senior PWD engineers inspected the tanks recently to explore the possibility of augmenting irrigation in the areas engulfing the respective tanks. Project cost PWD (WRO) Executive Engineer (Bhavani Sagar dam division) said that the project cost would be obtained from the corpus created under the head of Central Government-sponsored National Agriculture Development Programme (NADP).
