In recognition of the Rajasthan Government's excellent financial management, the Planning Commission has approved Rs 8,350 crore for the annual plan for 2005-06. This is 23 per cent in excess of the annual plan proposal of Rs 7,853 crore submitted by the State Government for the consideration of the Commission. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday had an almost two-hour long meeting with Mr Montek Singh Ahaluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, in New Delhi in which the annual plan was approved. Ahead of this meeting, Government officials had held extensive discussions with the Commission in which sector wise details of the plan were taken up. This year the annual plan is more than double that for the year 2001-02 which was to the tune of Rs 4146 crore.
