The North-Eastern Council, the premiere regional planning and development agency for the North-Eastern states, is going for a fresh facelift to keep pace with the changing economic and political environment in the country and the development needs of the frontier region. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is the chairman of the Planning Commission, is expected to suggest a whole range of course correction for the Council and guide the follow-up process when he presides over the 50th meeting of the NEC at New Delhi scheduled for November 16.
