Nepal's population is growing at the rate of 2.37 percent annually, according to the statistics provided by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The population growth in urban areas is less compared to those in hilly and himalayan region. The growth rate in the urban areas is 2.9 whereas this is 5.6 per cent in the himalayan region. This difference is attributed to the level of women's education.
