Possible new test finds Mad Cow Disease in blood

British researchers said on Wednesday they had found a surprising new effect of mad cow disease on the body and that it might lead to a blood test for the disease. They found a gene that is strongly affected in animals stricken with mad cow disease, known formally as bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) or scrapie, the related disease in sheep.
