The draft electricity bill has proposed imposition of a levy of two paise on each kilowatt hour of energy generated by coal, lignite, natural gas or any petroleum product. The proceeds of the levy will be utilised by the Union government for promoting and augmenting the generation of electricity from non-fossil fuel sources.
