Power demand comes down to 5000 MW

Due to monsoon rains in the state during the last two days, the power demand has come down to 5000 megawatts from 5800 megawatts. At present, 4200 megawatt power is available to meet the demand. In view of decline in power demand, various generation units at Sarni have been closed for annual maintenance. Besides, an action plan has been chalked out to run the units at 80 to 90 PLF. Arrangements of adequate funds are being made for this purpose. The 600 megawatt power drawn under power banking agreements is being returned to other states. Annual maintenance of units In view of fall in power demand, a 210 MW unit of Satpura thermal power plant and unit No. 8 of Sarni have been closed for annual maintenance work for 20 days. Besides, an action plan has been chalked out to ensure that Sarni unit do not developed frequent snags and running unit Nos. 6, 7, 8 and 9 at 80 to 90 Power Load Factor (PLF).
