The ministry of power has opposed the department of disinvestment's proposal for National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to acquire government's 100 per cent equity stake in Natioan Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) for over Rs 5000 crore during 2000-2001.
