The ministry of power is planning to move the Cabinet for according mega project status to the 1980 mw Sipat thermal power project of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). Following this, Sipat will become eligible for various fiscal concessions such as zero customs duty, a 10 year tax holiday, besides exemption of sales tax and local levies, as being given to other mega projects.
