The power ministry has mooted a proposal to hawk non-urban distribution networks of state electricity boards to rural cooperatives. These cooperatives will also be provided the freedom to generate power to feed the networks. Power ministry officials claim that milk cooperatives like Kheda or a sugar coop like Mula Prabara can provide viable power distribution networks in the rural areas.
