Opposition to the $1,034-million Trans-Thailand-Malaysia gas pipeline, approved by the Thai cabinet yesterday, is building in the South. Local groups are rallying support nationwide against the project, which they say will disadvantage Thais. Damai Anantiyo, leader of the Songkhla People's Group, said opponents felt betrayed that the cabinet had cleared the project before it could be put to a public hearing.
