Withdrawal of octroi duty on nine commidities, minor slash on about 100 consumer items and 100 per cent increase in water charges were proposed in the budget of Rajkot municipal corporation for 1999-2000. Presenting the Rs 6.72 crore surplus budget to the standing committee, municipal commissioner Raj Gopal said that against the revenue of Rs 213.64 crores, the expenditure was estimated at Rs 206.72 crores.
