Public Transport Infrastructure Authority to be constituted in state

Public Transport Infrastructure Authority will be constituted with a view to strengthening transport arrangements in the state. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to complete process of its constitution at the earliest. Following constitution of this authority, urban and rural bus routes in the state will be managed effectively. New transport routes will be fixed. Bus operators will get profit and common people facilities. Shri Chouhan was reviewing activities of the Transport Department here today.
The Chief Minister said that making available effective transport facilities to people is State Government’s priority. He directed to install all necessary infrastructure to facilitate people at bus stands. Directing to start process of establishing Driving Training Centre in all the districts, he said that these training centres can be established under PPP mode.
It was informed at the meeting that Eicher, Leyland and Tata Motors have given consent to establish and run Driving Training Centres. Training centre at Chhindwara will start functioning from January next year.
It was informed at the meeting that 17 check posts will be established by the next year. Similarly, construction of central control rooms at Gwalior and Indore will be completed next month. Process is underway to change definition of rural route to make it practical.
Transport Minister Shri Jagdish Deora, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Antony J.C. D’sa, Transport Commissioner Shri Sanjay Choudhary, Secretary to CM Shri Vivek Agrawal and senior officers were present on the occasion.
