Punjab's Annual Plan fixed at Rs 2,743 crore

The 2002-03 Annual Plan for Punjab has been fixed at Rs 2,743 crores while the Tenth Plan outlay has been finalised at Rs 18,657 crores. Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, K.C. Pant said the existing schemes should be dovetailed and new elements introduced. In this context, he suggested that bio-technology should form an important component of the programme. On better management of water resources, he said pricing of irrigation water was essential.
