Water bodies in the city and its suburbs, which were recently returned to the Public Works Department, will be rejuvenated as part of an initiative to beautify lakes in the southern suburbs. About 20 water bodies at Tambaram and Poonamallee circles were handed over to the PWD by Chennai Metrowater two months ago on grounds of better expertise for flood management and maintenance.
