Radio ecology centre for Hisar varsity

Chandigarh: A Radio Ecology Centre (REC) is being set up in Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, in collaboration with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
The DAE has sanctioned Rs 5.11 crore for the project, out of which Rs 3.41 crore has already been received by the university, an official spokesman of the university said here yesterday.
Research on demographic research, water and air quality research, base line studies on radiations, radiation dose due to natural and fallout radioactivity, radiological assessment of exposure to terrestrial and aquatic non human biota in the vicinity of future nuclear power plant sites, would be done at the REC.
The research work would be conducted in association with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Board of Research in Nuclear Science, and Nuclear Power Corporation Of India, all of which are based in Mumbai.
