Water harvesting is fast becoming a craze in Delhi schools. While schools like Mira Model in West and Shri Ram School in Vasant Vihar have been into 100 percent water harvesting for over a year, around 20 more schools have forayed into water harvesting within the last one year. According to experts at the Centre for Science and Environment, with the water table falling by two meters a year in the city due to excessive consumption of water and illegal boring, more and more schools, especially in South and southwest Delhi, are getting concerned as they depend on borewells to meet most of their water requirement.
