While rains that lashed the township late last night did bring the mercury down by a few degrees, residents were left to handle waterlogged roads and erratic power supply. Many sectors in the township struggled with the monsoon woes as they paved their vehicles through roads full of water and deep potholes.
Main roads like those in Sector 6, near the Sector 5-11 roundabout, road leading to Industrial Area from Sector 19 were completely logged with water. People found it difficult to drive on the road leading to Sector 15 and Majri Chowk. Internal roads in various sectors like Sector 7, 8, 9, 10 also led to inconvenience to residents as water remained there till afternoon. Industrial Area, Phase I was no better.
Parking lot in court complex and that of Mini Secretariat also presented a picture of bad civic infrastructure as rains made these parking lots lose their utility with big puddles. Power supply too played hide and seek with residents as some sectors remained without power for over five hours. Worst hit were residents of Sector 8 who remained without power for around 12 hours. The residents alleged that the Sector-8 complaint office of the electricity department was shut and there was no one to attend to their grievance.
