Rajasthan refutes charge

The Rajasthan Government has denied charges of underutilisation of Central funds for rural development by the state. The charge of non-use of funds by the Union Minister for Rural Development, Shanta Kumar, and his Minister of State, Subhash Maharia, was inaccurate, the State authorities said giving their own figures. Rajasthan has utilised as much as Rs 779.85 crores of the total of Rs 1028.54 crores allocated to it under various heads by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for the year 2002-03, it is pointed out.
