Rajasthan shows the way in building roads

Rajasthan is leading all states in the country in the implementation of the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana that seeks to connect all villages with a population of over 500 with roads by 2003 and those with a population of over 1,000 by 2007. As many as 535 works of the length of 2020 kilometres and an outlay of Rs 263.05 crores were taken up during 2001-02, while 154 works of 547 km length and for Rs 58.68 crores have been sanctioned in 2002-03.
