Ravi water for Amritsar

The Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board is drawing up plans to use canal water to meet the demands of potable and drinking water for the city's urban population. Talking to The Tribune the Chief Engineer of the board, Mr R D Kansal, said he had especially brought along a group of engineers from Chandigarh to evaluate the feasibility to meeting the ever-growing water needs of the holy city be supplying canal water duly treated from the Upper Bari Doab Canal which brings water from the Ravi.
