Oil refining companies are being asked to ensure that 7.5 per cent of the crude throughput of their refineries be converted to kerosene. The ratio has been fixed by the ministry of petroleum and natural gas after it found that many refiners were producing more diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) at the cost of kerosene. The duty differential on kerosene and diesel makes it more lucrative for refiners to produce the latter.
