The government of Thailand yesterday ordered a one-month shutdown of Thai Oil Co's refinery and a run of safety checks at 100 other petroleum and petrochemical plants nationwide. Under an order issued by the Industrial Works Department, the Thaioil refinery and its tank farms in Si Racha district, Chon Buri, will remain closed until Jan 7 for checks on possible problems in its safety systems.
