Relief for damage to crops due to hailstorm, frost after survey

The MP Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Department is carrying out survey of hail and frost-affected areas; decision on compensation and relief work will be taken according to the survey report. The untimely rain and hail frost has adversely affected six districts of the State in the first week of January. Heavy loss occurred to crops due to hailstorm, especially potato crops and other vegetables. According to sources Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Minister Ramkrishna Kusmaria ordered to carry out survey work from second week of January.
Survey work will take 15 days more to complete, according to initial reports the hailstorm has adversely affected crops in five district and situation will be clear after the final survey report. Hailstorm has affected Guna, Mandsaur, Bhind, Morena, Ratlam and Seoni. In Jabalpur, Sagar and Khajuraho two cm rainfall was recorded, while seven cm in Seoni.
Kusmaria said this year, frost has not affected crops anywhere in the State, but hailstorm has affected crops at some places. After survey is completed relief will be considered.
