The Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy has approved the setting up of "National Institute of Renewable Energy" (NIRE) at Jallandhar. The Institute will be an apex body responsible for conducting the latest research and developmental activities in all the areas relating to non-conventional renewable energy sources.
